New rules proposed to promote tourism across country and enhance revenue
NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: The Road Transport and Highways Ministry is planning to provide All India Tourist Authorization or Permit through online mode to any tourist vehicle operator in the country.
The Ministry has invited suggestions from the public and stakeholders for the proposed draft rules known as, ‘All India Tourist Vehicles Authorization and Permit Rules, 2020’ published on 1st July 2020. The scheme entails flexibility in the form of authorization or permit. Under the scheme, the permit will be valid for a period of three months or its multiples not exceeding three years at a time. This provision has been incorporated keeping in mind those areas of the country where there is a limited season of tourism. The draft rules state that the permit shall not be granted to a vehicle after the completion of twelve years from the date of first registration of the vehicle and all such authorizations or permits shall be issued within 30 days of submission of applications. The application along with the specified fee shall be made in electronic form on the website of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways or Transport Authority.
The objective of these rules is to promote tourism across the country and enhance the revenue of the government. Tourism industry in the country has increased manifold in the last ten to fifteen years. The growth has been contributed by both domestic and international tourists.
