World is watching India on cheapest vaccine: PM Modi
NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that the world is keeping a close watch on the safest and cheapest vaccine against COVID-19 and is looking towards India.
At an all party meeting to discuss the COVID-19 situation in the country, PM Modi said that Indian scientists are very confident of succeeding in their endeavour of making a Covid vaccine. "The world is keeping a watch on the cheapest and safe vaccine. That is why the world is watching India," PM Modi said.
The PM said that as soon as the scientists give the green signal, vaccination will start in India. The healthcare, frontline workers and elderly people suffering form serious diseases will be given the first priority, he also said.
PM Modi said that the price of corona vaccine will be determined on the basis of consultation with the states keeping public health as topmost priority. The Prime Minister was presiding over an all party meeting here to discuss the situation arising out of the Coronavirus pandemic in the country.
PM Modi said that on the basis of interactions with experts and scientists, it can be said that the Coronavirus vaccine will be ready in the next few weeks in the country.
For determining the price if the much-awaited vaccine, the Central government is in talks with the states and their advice will also be given preference, he told the political parties
Union ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh and Harsh Vardhan were also present in the meeting. Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and Ghulam Nabi Azad, TMC leader Derek O'Brien, DMK leader T R Baalu, NCP patron Sharad Pawar and party leaders from other political parties participated in the virtual meeting.
