Artists win hearts in Khajuraho dance festival
BHOPAL [Maha Media]: On the fifth day of Khajuraho dance festival, artists enchanted the viewers with their fine dance moves. Fascinating performances including Odissi dance on theme of 'Sakhi Hai' by Poornashree Raut mesmerised large crowd present. In this sequence, Kuchipudi on 'Abhinav Vibhava' theme by Avijit Das and Mohini Attam group dance performance by Bharati Shivaji and fellow performers created a perfect atmosphere, bringing lifeless stone buildings to life.
The classical dance performances were appreciated by the art lovers with huge round of applauses. Purnashree Raut is an Odissi dancer, choreographer and teacher from Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Mattha Purna of Raipur teaches visually challenged, mute and dumb instructors at a local school. She has also been awarded for this work by the Welfare Department of the Government of Chhattisgarh.
Through her presentations, choreography and workshops, she also promotes and publicises the language of Orissa. Full of boundless energy, Avijit Das is a proponent and promoter of rich traditions of Indian classical dance Kuchipudi. He has given dance performances in several cities in the United States, Australia, South America and Asia.
Bharati Shivaji explored infinite possibilities in Kerala's traditional classical dance Mohiniyattam. She was honoured by Government of Kerala, Natya Academy and Sahitya Kala Parishad for her tireless efforts and contributions in the field of Mohiniyattam. In Khajuraho Dance Festival, classical dance arts of various states of the country are being presented through live dances.
