Momentum of 51st IFFI continues its fascination on 2nd day
NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: The momentum of the 51st IFFI continues its fascination on the second day today. IFFI has already commenced in Panaji Goa yesterday. 8 days event will continue till 24th January.
Indian panorama is one of the important sections of Iffi. It encompasses the best contemporary Indian feature and non feature films. It was inaugurated today in Panaji in the presence of Additional secretary of Ministry of Information and broadcasting Nirja Shekhar, Joint Secretary Films Anju Nigam, DFF director Chaitanya Prasad and jury members headed by John Mathew Matthan.
Indian Panorama was kicked off today with Saand ki Aankh (???? ?? ???) Hindi feature film directed by Tushar Hirnandani and Gujarati non feature film Paanchika (???????) directed by Ankit Kothari. Saand ki Aankh film is based on the lives of sharpshooters Chandro and Prakashi Tomar. Films Paanchika hits hard on caste based prejudices in society. Dadasaheb Falke and Satyajit Ray retrospective section will be inaugurated in the evening session.
IFFI has announced Indian Personality of the Year Award for veteran actor and director Biswajit Chatterjee. The Award was announced at the opening ceremony of the festival by Information & Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar in Goa yesterday.
The award will be conferred on him when National Film Awards are presented in March this year. Apart from acting and direction, Biswajit Chatterjee has also been a producer and singer of Bengali and Hindi cinema. Biswajit Chatterjee is known for his roles of Kumar Vijay Singh in Bees Saal Baad, Raja Amit Kumar Singh in Kohra, Ashok in April Fool, Ramesh Kumar in Mere Sanam, Jeevan in Night In London, Shekhar in Do Kaliyaan and Vicky in Kismat. He was usually paired with notable actresses such as Asha Parekh, Waheeda Rehman, Mumtaz, Mala Sinha and Rajshree. Some of his Bengali films include Chowringhee, Srimaan Prithviraj, Jai Baba Taraknath and Amar Geeti.
