CBSE schools to celebrate Matribhasha Diwas on 21st
BHOPAL [Maha Media]: CENTRAL Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has asked its affiliated schools to conduct activities to achieve the objective of Matribhasha Diwas by celebrating the day on February 21.
Notably, UNESCO has declared February 21 every year as International Mother Tongue Day to promote the dissemination of mother tongue and awareness of linguistic and cultural traditions throughout the world and to inspire solidarity based on understanding, tolerance and dialogue.
It has been decided to celebrate Matribhasha Diwas on February 21 to promote the use of mother tongue.
The tenor would be celebratory and the schools affiliated to the board can observe it with the objectives to highlight the linguistic diversity of our country, encourage usage, not only of the respective mother tongue but other Indian languages as well, understand and draw attention to the diversity of cultures, in India and the consequent forums of literature, craft, performing arts, scripts and other forms of creative expression and encourage the learning of languages, other than one’s own mother tongue.
The board has asked its affiliated schools to conduct various activities marking the occasion.
The list of suggestive activities to be taken up on the Matribhasha Diwas is given by the board. In case the school is closed on February 21, then it may be celebrated on February 20, Thursday.
The suggested activities are Constitution’s Preamble reading in Matribhasha, Reading of the ‘Preamble’ in Matribhasha, group/folk songs, essay competition, debate, exhibition on Indian languages through display boards, posters etc, General Knowledge competition on Indian language Heritage or any other activities.
The board has requested school heads to organise the suggestive activities to achieve the objectives of Matribhasha Diwas and send the report of the same at the official link.
