College admissions to be delayed in MP
NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: COVID-19 pandemic has put adverse effect on academics of college students. As universities and colleges could not conduct final year exams, new academic session will be delayed.
According to Department of Higher Education (DHE) undergraduation and post-graduation examinations will be held in June and July. Officials said that admissions for new session would be beginning after class XII result. PG admissions will be beginning after result of UG exams.
DHE has asked universities to release UG final year result by July so that admission in PG level would be beginning. Official said that they are planning to start admission process in July.
However, final decision depends on situation of COVID-19 pandemic. DHE officer on special duty Dr Dhirendra Shukla said that they are focusing on exams. Most probably examinations will begin from June. Admission in UG class will begin after class XII result. Last year (2020-21) too admission in UG and PG courses were delayed.
According to DHE schedule, exams and results of current session will end by July. While UGC has not recommended any admission related schedule. CBSE has also declared to hold exams of class XII during month of May.
Concerned over the different dates of other exams, DHE is yet to decide its schedule. JEE-Mains exam will also be delayed. As a result date of several exams is not confirmed, DHE and DTE are unable to schedule the admission date. Sources said that DTE has prepared tentative schedule of exams. Officials suggested starting classes for technical courses like engineering, pharmacy, MBA, MCA and polytechnic from July 1. Many universities and colleges could not conduct the final exams of UG courses due to corona curfew in many districts. In such condition, institutes would be allowed to conduct provisional admission for fresh class but such students required to submit certification of completing graduation. Officials said that schools have even not conducted their final exams so final decision for university level admission could not be taken.
