Dharmendra Pradhan takes charge of Education Ministry
NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: Dharmendra Pradhan has been given the charge of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Ministries. He replaces Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, who resigned today from the cabinet citing health reasons. Earlier, he served as the Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Steel in the Government of India under Narendra Modi’s leadership. Also, Annpurna Devi has been given the charge of State Minister in the Ministry of Education.
Decisions on several major entrance exams, including the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET 2021 as well as common test for admission to central universities, are pending. Dharmendra Pradhan is expected to make some major reforms in the Education sector along with the execution of National Education Policy, NEP 2020 across the country.
A post-graduate from Utkal University in Bhubaneswar in Anthropology, Dharmendra Pradhan has been actively pursuing several issues concerning the youth, such as unemployment and lack of skill-based education. He has played a major role in mobilising the youth of the country. Dharmendra Pradhan is the son to Debendra Pradhan, who also has been a cabinet minister in the Atal Bihari 1999-2004 government.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet has been reshuffled with an aim to start fresh again. The swearing-in ceremony was held at 6 pm. Names in the cabinet reshuffle include several new entrants as well as existing ministers who will be reassigned. Earlier today, the President of India has accepted the resignation of Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ and Minister of State for Education Dhotre Sanjay Shamrao.
