DHE extends UG, PG admissions
BHOPAL [Maha Media]: Due to prevailing COVID-19 crisis, Department of Higher Education is continuing admission on UG and PG seats of private and Government colleges by October end. Students, who failed to apply for UG and PG programme in previous round, can apply for admission. The department has re-started registration process for UG courses by October 26 and PG courses by October 29.
Officials said this year large numbers of students are taking admission in traditional degree courses and they prefer to continue studies in city instead of moving to other state.
Parents are also worried about the pandemic and they are suggesting their ward to continue study in home town only. Educationist Dr ML Dubey said, the latest trend suggest that about 60 percent students take admission to traditional degree courses like BA, B.Sc, B.Com.
After passing the UG courses, only 20 percent students further take admission to PG courses due to which there is difference in seat intake.
Currently, DHE is continuing additional counseling round to ensure enrollment of maximum school pass outs in higher education. On Monday, merit list of 1.18 lakh students was released for UG programme. Last date of admission confirmation on allotted seats is October 26.
There are 60 thousand choice filling for PG admission.
Though online classes of under-graduation and post-graduation students has been started by Department of Higher Education (DHE) as per schedule but activities are facing several hindrances. While audio and video of lectures of professors are not being broadcast properly due to poor network, lower attendance of students is making the plan unsuccessful. Concerned over the problem of students, DHE said that attendance will not be mandatory in online class.
