MP: Colleges likely to reopen from August 1
BHOPAL [Maha Media]: State Higher Education Minister Mohan Yadav has said to reopen colleges from August 1 under strict safety measures. However, final decision is yet to be taken. Staff and students will be asked to carry their vaccination certificate with them on mandatory basis to enter the college campus. Minister Yadav said that colleges can be reopened under COVID-19guidelines from August. Final decision for the same will be taken by Chief Minister in the Cabinet meet. In the first phase, 50 per cent staff will be visiting campus and then in the second phase remaining staff will be called. Apart from vaccination, mask, social distancing, sanitisation and other safety protocol will be mandatory. Minister Yadav denies commenting about schools but colleges are proposed to be reopened.
Sources said, there will be a of ministers on Monday to take final decision over reopening of colleges. In a recent meeting with ministers, officials said that more than 77 lakh people have been vaccinated in the State (aged 18 to 60+) with first dose. In the meantime, Covid cases are under control. Officials said amid such circumstances, colleges can be reopened with strict Covid protocols. Minister Dr Mohan Yadav said that discussion has been made to reopen colleges. He said only vaccinated students and staff will be allowed in college campus but final decision could not be held. Schools and colleges are closed are closed since March 2020. Online studies are continuing in all schools and colleges. SED officials said that this is not good for physical and mental health of students to stay at home and continue online studies.
