MP: Many seats in colleges vacant
BHOPAL [Maha Media]: Department of Higher Education (DHE) is conducting its second round of college level counselling for admission in under-graduate and post-graduate programmes. In this round admission is allowed by October 30. In second round, maximum colleges have witnessed below ten admissions in several programme while Hamidia College Bhopal has higher number of admissions. Even prestigious colleges like Nutan, MVM, MLB, Geetanjali colleges have below ten admissions in the second CLC. MLB College has only one admission in PGDCA, Chemistry Industry and physics.
Nutan College is considered as prestigious college among students but it has also six admissions in Home Science and seven admissions in B.Sc Computer. There are around 20,000 seats in colleges of Bhopal out of which only 15,000 seats are filled up. Remaining 5,000 seats are still vacant but students not showing their interest to take admission in additional CLC.
This year DHE is making several efforts to increase the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) of colleges. Apart from increasing the seat intake in both UG and PG programme, admission dates have been extended for several times. Additional counselling round for filling up under graduate and post graduate seats has begun on October 21.
There are around 6.30 admissions confirmed in colleges. DHE has already released notification for increasing seat intake of colleges by 25,000. There are 4.77 lakh admissions in under graduation programme and 1.53 lakh admissions in post graduate programme. There are over 7 lakh students cleared the class XII exam from MPBSE, CBSE and other boards in state. DHE is making effort to increase gross enrollment ration (GER) of higher education by admitting higher number of students in colleges. While last year there were 5.61 lakh admissions in colleges, this year DHE has targeted to confirm admission of at least 7 lakh students in colleges.
