MP: UGC writes for Dig ilocker acceptance in HEIs

BHOPAL [Maha Media]: University Grants Commission (UGC) wrote to higher educational institutes (HEIs) for acceptance of degree, marksheet and other educational documents presented through the digital locker platform. The commission said that National Academic Depository (NAD) is an online storehouse of academic awards (degrees, marksheets, etc) lodge by the academic institutions in a digital format. It facilitates students to get authentic documents certificates in digital format directly from their original issues anytime and anywhere any physical interference. The Ministry of Education, Government of India, has designated the UGC as an authorised body to implement NAD as a permanent scheme without levy of any user charges in co-operation with the digital locker as a single depository of NAD. 

Academic institutions can register themselves and upload academic awards of their institution on NAD through digilocker NAD portal. UGC said that the Digilocker platform of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India has the facility to pull student’s degree, marksheet and other documents into the issues documents section in an electronic form once upload through the digilocker NAD platform by the original issues. 

These electronic records available on digilocker platform are valid documents as pr the provisions of the information technology Act 2,000. To enhance the reach of NAD programme, all academic institution are asked to accept degree, marksheet and other documents available in issues documents in digi-locker account as valid documents.
