Mumbai Schools to reopen for classes 1 to 7 from today
MUMBAI [Maha Media]: Mumbai Schools are all geared up to welcome back students from today – December 15, 2021. Students of classes 1 to 7 will be resuming offline classes in the City after a gap of nearly 21 months. While some teachers and schools expressed their excitement to have students back in brick-and-mortar teaching environment, parents expressed their concern and unwillingness to send their wards due to Omicron threat.
As per reports, over 10 lakh students of classes 1 to 7 are expected to resume offline classes from today. Even though preparations have been in full swing after Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, BMC gave its nod, it is likely that many schools would welcome students only around January.
Mumbai Schools have received a feedback from parents on reopening, and according to that, many are inclined towards waiting, rather than sending their wards to schools. They want to wait before taking a decision as children in this age group are not vaccinated and Maharashtra has reported a few Omicron cases over the last few days.
It is also known that many private aided and unaided schools are likely to resume offline lectures in January as they would soon be shut for Christmas break. Seeing fewer days left for classroom teaching, schools are not too keen to call back students, especially when parents are expressing their discomfort as well.
