UGC releases caution against fraudulent claims for Swayam
BHOPAL [Maha Media]: University Grants Commission (UGC) released cautions against fraudulent claims from students of Swayam courses on Wednesday.
The commission said that it has come to the notice of consortium for educational communication (CEC), an inter-university centre if UGC and national co-ordinator for non-engineering UG and PG Swayam courses, that some people or groups are making fraudulent claims and charging verification fees of Rs 100 from learners of the Swayam portal of Government of India. The learners are told that they been selected for national scholarships and all Government jobs.
The fraudulent individuals, groups have also shared their bank details for deposit of verification fees. Through the commission issued caution notices to all Swayam learners to remain alert and not to fall prey to any such malafide claims of demanding for money and also not to share other important personal or financial information. UGC release MOOC courses under Swayam platform and ask eligible faculties to be part of this important Government endeavour by submitting their proposals.
The commission said Swayam, India’s national MOOCs platform provides an opportunity to faculty members in higher educational institutes to develop their online teaching skills and gives them an opportunity to reach out to a massive number of learners across the world. Further, development of MOOCs for Swayam will also help faculty in improving their academic score for career progression, as per the UGC regulations on minimum qualification for appointment of teachers and other academic staff in universities and colleges and measures for the maintenance of standards in higher education, 2018.
