UGC writes for Jeevan Raksha Padak 2021
NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: University Grants Commission (UGC) wrote to higher educational institutes for Jeevan Raksha Padak series of awards 2021.
The commission said that Jeevan Raksha Padak series of awards are given for meritorious acts of human nature in saving the life of a person in incidents like drowning, accidents, fire incidents, electrocution, landslides, animal attack and rescue operation in mines etc.
As the name of the award suggests, the award is given to a rescuer for saving someone’s life. There are three categories. Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak is awarded for conspicuous courage in saving life under circumstances of very great danger to the life of the rescuer.
Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak is awarded for courage and promptitude in saving life under circumstances of great danger to the life of the rescuer. Jeevan Raksha Padak is awarded for courage and promptitude in sharing life under circumstances of grave bodily injury to the rescuer.
A character and antecedents verification certificate is also required to be furnished. It may be noted that the recommendations for this award are considered by Awards committee within a period of two years from the date of performance of the gallant act.
Therefore, for the year 2021, any recommendation in respect of which the date of performance of the act falls prior to October 1, 2019, should not be forwarded to this ministry for consideration.
