MP archer selected in Tokyo Olympic selection trial
BHOPAL [Maha Media]: Madhya Pradesh State Archery Academy, Jabalpur, archer Amit Kumar got selected in India camp on the basis of brilliant performance in the selection trial held for the Tokyo Olympic Games at Tata Sports Complex Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, from November 23 to 27, acquiring third place with a score of 2,655 out of 2,880 points.
On the basis of his performance, Amit Kumar has been selected for the India camp to be held in Pune, Maharashtra. Notably, earlier, eight players were selected for the India camp of the Olympics. After COVID19 period, a selection competition for the India camp was held in Jharkhand.
Total 29 players across country showcased their participation in trials in which two players from Madhya Pradesh Archery Academy, Amit Kumar and Amit Yadav made it to the top eight with their excellent performances. Of these, Amit Kumar got selected for the India camp coming under Top 4.
Director Sports and Youth Welfare Pawan Kumar Jain said “The Madhya Pradesh State Archery Academy started with the initiative of Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia in 2013 is bringing out brilliant players who are performing excellently in international and national competitions and making the state proud by winning medals.”
