30% UG, PG students yet to verify documents
BHOPAL [Maha Media]: Around 30 per cent UG and PG students who recently confirmed their admission via online mode for session 2020- 21 could not submit their documents.
Department of Higher Education earlier asked these students to submit their documents by December 12, 2020, but colleges were not opened due to the pandemic so students failed to do so.
PG final and UG third year classes began in state from December 18. In such condition, student rushed to the college campus for submitting their documents. However 30 per cent students could not submit the required documents.
Concerned over the problems, DHE extended the date of document submission by February 5 and again it was extended by February 26.
Many students submitted affidavit for the required documents but they could not present the original documents including migration certification, transfer certificate, mark sheet etc in given time period.
A total of 1,405 Government colleges admitted 5624 UG and 3269 PG students in fifth round while in fourth round 55,1781 students were admitted.
Admission process was started on August 5, 2020. There were 10,13162 UG and PG seats across state out of which 560674 seats were filled in various admission rounds.
DHE has said that admission of candidates will not be confirmed until they submits the required documents. Previously, DHE sought document verification of students. But this year admissions were held in online mode due to the pandemic.
The department said now campuses have been opened and students require verifying their documents. Admission of candidates will be automatically cancelled if they fail to verify the documents by February 26.
However, during admission helpline desk were placed to verify the documents of students. DHE has also made provision of online document verification of students. But many students did not verify their documents due to the scare of COVID-19 pandemic.
