Coronavirus outbreak: Health Ministry issues school advisory
NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: Union Health Ministry has issued a school advisory in the wake of novel coronavirus. Schools have been advised to avoid any large gatherings of students during the course of the day in school. Any student or staff with travel history to COVID-19 affected country or in contact with such persons in last 28 days should be monitored and home quarantined for 14 days. Class teachers should be to any child with signs and symptoms like fever, cough and difficulty in breathing and should immediately inform the parents to have the child tested.
The Ministry has asked parents not to send the child back to school till advised so by the treating doctor. In its advisory, the Health Ministry also said that teachers, staff and students should be advised about simple public health measures of hand and respiratory hygiene. In hostels, health status of students as well as other ancillary staff should be monitored on regular basis. In case, there are suspected cases, the authorized medical authority should be called for examination. It has asked the schools to provide hand cleaners, sanitizers, soap and water and foot-operated pedal bins lined with plastic bags.
