NCERT announces 1-yr diploma course for training in counselling
BHOPAL [Maha Media]: THE National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has announcef a one-year diploma course for training of professionals in guidance and counselling, combining distance and face-to-face modes.
The course aims at enhancing the skills and competencies of teachers to promote holistic development of pupils and handle their academic, socio-emotional, and ethical problems. The course is open to teachers, teacher educators, school administrators and untrained guidance personnel from India.
It may be mentioned that increasing complexities and stresses of modern day living, everyday reports of lack of interest in studies, low achievement, truancy, aggression, behavioural problems, suicide, drug abuse and the like call for provision of guidance and counselling for children and youth in schools.
Teachers and other school personnel need to equip themselves with helping skills to motivate students. This, however, requires professional orientation and training.
The course will be transacted in three phases, i.e. distance (six months i.e. January-June, 2021), face-to-face contact programme at respective study centres (three months i.e. July-September, 2021), and internship in home town (three months i.e. OctoberDecember, 2021). Admission to eligible candidates will be offered at DEPFE, NCERT, New Delhi and Regional Institutes of Education at Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Mysuru and Shillong.
Maximum number of seats at each centre will be 50. Government deputed candidates will be preferred. NCERT’s decision will be final in matters of admission.
